This week’s main ensuites on The Block were an absolute feast for the eyes, with Courtney & Grant taking the crown for their standout design! Their choice of bathroom lighting was spot on, proving just how essential the right lighting is in transforming a space. But don’t take our word for it, let’s see what the judges had to say!

House 1: Jesse and Paige

Jesse and Paige's main ensuite made quite the impression, despite some challenges with their floor-to-ceiling tiles. The judges were captivated by the size of the room, but while Shaynna loved the wall sconces, she did suggest the contestants could have used additional lighting above the vanity for better task lighting.

Jesse & Paige’s bathroom features a minimalist design that’s both elegant and understated. The Equinox wall sconce, with its sleek design, casts a soft, warm glow, perfectly enhancing the room’s clean aesthetic. This wall sconce is ideal for creating an inviting atmosphere in your own bathroom or powder room. Pair it with custom MFL strip lighting to add subtle, modern accents that elevate the entire space.

House 2: Courtney and Grant

Courtney and Grant’s vision for a "Moderterranean" style was fully realised in their main ensuite, featuring travertine checkerboard tiles, a double shower, and Venetian plaster. The judges were blown away by the design, with Darren especially enthusiastic about the space. The variety of textures in the room added a tactile element that Shaynna and Darren both found irresistible.

Courtney & Grant’s bathroom perfectly blends Mediterranean influences with modern design. The Camilla pendant adds a refined elegance that ties the room together, making it a stunning focal point for your own ensuite. Complement the look with custom MFL strip lighting for a soft, ambient glow, and incorporate the 100mm downlights to ensure practical, task-focused illumination, especially in areas like showers and vanities.

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

Ricky and Haydn had one of the most disastrous weeks on The Block. Their week was marred by a series of mishaps - wrong waterproofing, misplaced water stopper, incorrect primer - leading to a complete shutdown of their main ensuite. The duo was devastated and ended up letting their builder go. Despite the setbacks, they presented what they had to the judges, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to showcase any lighting products.

House 4: Kylie and Brad

Kylie and Brad finally hit their stride this week, earning praise for their dark and moody ensuite, anchored by a stunning Shou Sugi Ban feature wall. The lighting choices, particularly the modern black lights, perfectly complemented the room’s sculptural design, enhancing the dramatic effect of the space.

Paired with custom MFL strip lighting and downlights, you can create layers of light that enhance both the mood and functionality of the space.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Kristian and Mimi faced a challenging week, but their main ensuite still managed to impress with its expansive size and luxurious bronze details. While the judges had mixed feelings about the shower, Darren couldn't help but admire the exquisite tiles, praising their materiality, texture, and colour. The lighting and bronze accents tied the room together, maintaining their winning streak of stylish, cohesive design.
