This week was a marathon – 25 rooms revealed across five houses! From pantries and laundries to powder rooms, mud rooms and garages, the teams proved that even the most practical spaces can deliver style, drama and a few surprises.

House 1: Emma and Ben

Emma and Ben had the judges swinging between highs and lows. Their elevated washer and dryer was a huge hit, with Marty calling it something he’d love in his own home. The warm chestnut cabinetry also got a nod, but their pantry layout raised eyebrows – two sinks and a coffee station far from the fridge left Shaynna baffled. The powder room, though, was a total winner. Cosy, moody and rich in texture, it brought everyone back onside.

The Lighting

Their powder room glows with the Traviato squat pendant in travertine – all natural stone character and sculptural detail. MFL strip lighting hidden in the joinery adds a soft edge, giving this little space its moody depth.

House 2: Han and Can

Han and Can kept the momentum going with back-of-house spaces that felt polished and purposeful. Their pantry and laundry flowed beautifully, with smart zoning and plenty of bench space, and the mud room ticked every functional box with seating and storage. Shaynna loved the playful powder room, even if the floor tiles weren’t her favourite. And their garage? Big, bold and dramatic – the judges called it “showroom quality” and one of the dark horse moments of the season.

The Lighting

Custom recessed downlights in white gave their spaces a clean, gallery-like feel. Practical, yes, but also sharp and stylish – the perfect partner for their polished look.

House 3: Britt and Taz

What a comeback! After struggling last week, Britt and Taz came through with a suite of spaces that had the judges buzzing. Their pantry was sleek and beautifully laid out, their laundry so refined Shaynna even called it “sexy,” and the mud room topped Darren’s favourites list. Their powder room, with blush tiles and thoughtful detailing, had everyone swooning – and the garage sealed it with golden walls, Bromley artworks and the energy of a gallery. The judges agreed: this is a house they’d happily buy.

The Lighting

From the Avenue pendant in brass in their powder room to Flare gimble downlights and York II track spots through the back-of-house, every choice felt refined and deliberate. Strip lighting along the garage floor turned practical light into pure theatre – one of the week’s best moments.

House 4: Sonny and Alicia

Sonny and Alicia kept things simple and stylish, with some clever touches along the way. Their drying cabinet in the laundry was a first for the season and had the judges seriously impressed. Their powder room, too, carried their elegant design language beautifully. While the pantry-mudroom combo raised a few eyebrows, their garage – complete with sweeping paddock wallpaper – hit a sweet note of storytelling and charm.

The Lighting

The Aura anti-fog mirror in their powder room paired practicality with soft glow, while the Gala step light in the garage added a subtle architectural edge.

House 5: Robby and Matt

It’s been a rollercoaster week for Robby and Mat, but they delivered five finished spaces – and plenty of talking points. Their choice to go with a European laundry divided opinion, but the extra room it gave their pantry ended up being a smart trade-off. The pantry itself was a winner, complete with country-style tiling and loads of amenity. But it was their powder room that stole the show. Tropical wallpaper and a chandelier made for a bold, surprising space that felt both Daylesford and Hepburn at once.

The Lighting

The Sarita crystal chandelier in their powder room was a wow moment – playful, glamorous and completely unexpected. A true jewel-box space.

The Takeaway?

Back-of-house week might sound like the practical stuff, but these spaces packed in some of the most exciting design moments so far. From moody powder rooms to dramatic garages, every house gave us something to love – and lighting played its part in making these smaller spaces shine. What a week… bring on the next reveal!
