The Block 2025: Kitchen Reveals
Kitchen Week is always a blockbuster on The Block, and this year the teams went all in.
Kitchen Week is always a blockbuster on The Block, and this year the teams went all in. From bold colour choices to timber-clad ceilings and sculptural pendants, every house offered its own interpretation of a modern country kitchen. The judges were impressed, the contestants were emotional, and once again, the lighting made all the difference.
House 1: Emma and Ben
Emma and Ben made the decision to rework the living room alongside the kitchen, a choice that was gutsy - and paid off in spades. The judges praised the way their palette of warm timber and sleek stone brought both modernity and warmth, with Shaynna calling the colours “off the charts, amazing.”
The Lighting
A single Strix III linear pendant stretched across the island, its clean lines adding structure without overwhelming the space. The bronze sleeve shade was a fantastic choice, transforming the pendant into a piece that matched with the other metalware in the space. Paired with the cabinetry and stone, the effect was calm, refined, and quietly confident - proof that sometimes less really is more.
House 2: Han and Can
Han and Can’s kitchen was nothing short of theatrical. From the rendered arch to clever appliances (an ergonomic dishwasher and lit drawers!), the space brimmed with personality and polish. The judges praised its flair and sophistication, with Marty labelling it “a little bit extra, but not off-putting.”
The Lighting
The lighting sealed the drama. The Orion 14 light pendant in Brass brought a glamorous sparkle, its sculptural form echoing the arches and textures throughout. Brass Ison surface mount downlights carried the warmth across the ceiling, ensuring the luxe finishes glowed from every angle. It was layered, considered, and designed to impress.
House 3: Britt and Taz
Walking into Britt and Taz’s kitchen, the judges were stopped in their tracks by the rich timber ceiling. Its warmth set the tone for a space that felt sophisticated yet inviting, anchored by an island bench that faced the terrace for a more open flow. Darren called the design “absolutely breathtaking,” while Shaynna admitted it got her heart racing.
The Lighting
This kitchen space is dinner party ready. Sleek modern lines from the Avenue LED bar pendant in Brass meet the natural warmth of the Calido flare shade pendant over the dining table. The perfect balance of timber, stone, and statement lighting.
House 4: Sonny and Alicia
Sonny and Alicia’s kitchen was a bold blue statement, transforming their floorplan and winning back favour with the judges. The orientation and layout were praised for opening up circulation, while the cabinetry colour proved one of the most daring moves of the season so far.
The Lighting
But here, lighting became the sticking point. Custom downlights provided the function, but the absence of a pendant left the room feeling pared back. As Marty noted, a sculptural fixture could have brought elegance and sophistication, tying the bold palette into something truly memorable. Sometimes the missing piece is the one you notice most, right?
House 5: Robby and Matt
Robby and Mat’s kitchen was pure heart. From Nordic oak cabinetry to French-inspired detailing, the space wrapped around you with warmth and charm. The judges described it as “so country” yet upmarket, with Shaynna calling it a kitchen that makes you happy simply to be in it.
The Lighting
Lighting goals right here. Robby and Mat’s living, dining, and kitchen spaces shine with the Alana pendant, a modern twist on the classic candelabra. Sculptural, elegant, and perfectly layered with downlights for that bright, practical glow.
The Takeaway?
Each team has carved out their own look, but all with a clear eye for detail and atmosphere, proving once again that lighting isn’t just an addition, it’s the heartbeat of great design.
