Blockheads push design boundaries in final reveal

Neon signage, hipster record players and retro artwork saw this season go out with a creative St. Kilda style bang!

Courtney & Hans
What they did: Taking their cue from one of Milan’s hottest kitchen trends, Courtney & Hans created a winning kitchen with their huge island bench and open ‘café style’ shelving which created “kitchen envy” from style guru Neale Whitaker.

Get the look: Create more of an impact and instantly update your kitchen by adding striking black task lighting such as our Surface downlights and Action track spots as chosen by Courtney & Hans.

The Block Channel 9Norm & Jess
What they did: Norm & Jess's risky design decision to pair pink neon signage with two of our Strix II LED pendants was described as “sensational” by Shaynna and Darren.

Get the look: Use statement lighting to zone an open plan space and create a stunning centrepiece over a dining table. Always look for dimmable pendants such as our Strix II range, which allow you to instantly change the room from a hobbies/work area to an inviting entertaining space.

The Block Channel 9Hayden & Sara’s study
What they did: With warm timber furnishings and pared back styling, Hayden & Sara created a sophisticated, elegant study nook which wowed the judges.

Get the look: Never underestimate the importance of lighting in a study or home office. Adjustable lighting such as our Scope table lamp used by Hayden & Sara is perfect for smaller spaces as it directs light to where you need it, then swings out of the way when not in use. Update a traditional space by adding our DIY LIFX dimmable smart lighting strips under cabinets and bookshelves.

The Block Channel 9Hayden & Sara’s Hallway
What they did: Darren described the lighting layout as “really clever”, as the pendant lit the space for ambience and also created extra sculptural effects on the wall.

Get the look: Make a statement in your hallway hallway with our Panorama 4 light pendant used by Hayden & Sara, which features adjustable heads to illuminate walls and artwork.

Bianca & Carla.
What they did: Bianca & Carla used an eclectic mix of textures, shapes and colours to create a “playful and quirky” living room. While the judges were critical of the styling, they did love the ceiling and lighting layout.

Get the look: Think layering when it comes to styling, as this technique gives a room a relaxed, ‘lived-in’ feel. Pair brass lighting such as our Louie floor lamp with our Haus homewares for softness and add our Bayside Calypso black fan to provide dramatic contrast against a white ceiling.

Kerrie & Spence
What they did: From the baby grand piano to the giant artwork, Kerrie & Spence transformed a traditional terrace into an amazing, multifunctional entertaining space.

Get the look: Mix our white Nordic fan with our Thermastrip outdoor heaters in an alfresco room for year-round comfort. Use our Haus cushions and throws to add texture and compliment the inviting vibe of this room.
