Our in-home service connects you with an accredited lighting consultant who visits you in your home, assessing your space and suggesting fittings on-site. Every recommendation is designed to enhance your space and reflect your personal style.

How much do design consultations cost?
- In-store consultations are completely free.
- In-home visits are $100, with the full amount redeemable on purchase after your consult*. In-home services are available within one hour travel of the closest store.
- In-studio consultations are $250, and you can put that cost toward your lighting selections when you spend $1,000 or more on any products.
If your electrician/builder/architect is a Beacon Trade member, they can provide you with a referral code that allows you to access this service for free. Check the online booking form to find a list of Beacon Lighting stores where this service is available.
What’s the difference between an in-home and in-studio consultation?
An in-home consultation brings an accredited lighting consultant to you, assessing your space and suggesting fittings on-site. An in-studio consultation allows you to collaborate with a designer in our showroom, exploring lighting trends, styles, and technology while developing a tailored plan that you can give to your interior designer, architect, builder, or electrician.
Which service is right for me?
If you want expert guidance in your own space, an in-home consultation is best. This is a great service for existing homes that need a lighting refresh. If you need a complete, comprehensive lighting plan, such as for a new construction or renovation, an in-studio consultation is ideal.
How do I prepare for my consultation?
The best way to prepare is to gather inspiration - mood boards, Pinterest ideas, floor plans, or images of your space. This helps our designers understand your vision and tailor recommendations to suit your style and needs.
How long does a consultation take?
Consultations typically run between 60–90 minutes, depending on the complexity of your project.
What do I receive after my in-studio consultation?
For an in-studio consultation, your consultant will develop a comprehensive lighting and electrical plan, giving you a detailed quote and a plan that can be shared with your architect, builder, or electrician.For in-store and in-home consultations, your lighting consultant will create a tailored lighting recommendation for your space and provide a detailed quote.
Do I need to bring anything to my in-studio consultation?
Bringing floor plans, images, or a mood board will help us create a lighting plan that aligns with your vision. If you’re unsure, our team will guide you through the process.
Can I book an online consultation?
Yes! Our online consultations offer the same expert advice from the comfort of your home. You’ll receive personalised guidance on lighting plans, styles, and selections via video call.
Is the consultation fee redeemable on purchases?
Yes, the fee for in-home and in-studio consultations is redeemable on purchases at Beacon Lighting. The fee for in-home services is redeemable after the consult, and in-studio fees when you spend $1,000 or more on any products.
Can you work with my electrician, builder, or architect?
Absolutely. Our lighting plans and quotes are designed to be easily shared with your project team, ensuring seamless integration into your build or renovation. Your team is welcome to come to any or all of your consultations.
Is there a free in-home consultation for VIPs?
Yes! New VIP customers can receive a free in-home lighting consultation. Our accredited lighting designer will assess your space and create a tailored lighting plan to suit your style and needs.
Now that I have a lighting design, how do I find an electrician?
Each of our stores has a Preferred Electrician they can recommend, or you can use our Electrician Finder to connect with a trusted professional in your area.
Can you help design the electrical layout?
Yes, our in-studio service can provide a detailed plan for your electrician, ensuring the correct placement of lighting and electrical fittings. We also offer a wide range of switches and powerpoints to complete your setup.
How long is a quote valid for?
Quotes are valid for 30 days. If your project is further down the track, we can still provide a quote, but pricing may need to be reviewed based on promotions at the time.
