When you are choosing lights for your client's home, there is more than just the design and style to take into consideration. If you want to make your client's home cleaner and more energy-efficient, it’s important to select the best light bulbs to save energy.

Which Light Globes Save More Energy?

There is a range of light globes available that can help your clients save energy in their homes. There are several options available, including halogen, fluorescent, and LED, giving you a range of bulbs to choose from.

Fluorescent Light Globes

Fluorescent light globes - also known as T5s, T9s, T8s, circular, or linear - are very compact and are more energy-efficient light globes than the older options. These bulbs use around 80% less energy than halogen light bulbs and can last up to 20 times longer. Fluorescent bulbs are available in white and yellow tones, and some are compatible to use with dimmers. You can also diffuse the light from these bulbs using a cover. It’s important to keep in mind that Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs) contain a very small amount of mercury and therefore need to be recycled properly once they reach the end of their lifespan.

LED Light Globes

LED lights are by far the most energy-efficient light globes. They produce greater energy returns over time, making them the perfect long-term investment for your client's home. LED bulbs don’t contain any mercury, toxins, or harmful glass and can last up to 50,000 hours. The bulbs are shatterproof, shock resistant, and have no brittle filaments, helping them to last longer and light up your client's home safely. LED bulbs are available in a variety of different colour temperatures, and Smart lighting options are also available to make your client's home even more sustainable.

Are LED Globes Energy Efficient?

If your clients want to make their home energy efficient, LED globes are the best option. They don’t produce as much heat as halogen and incandescent bulbs, making them last longer and function more effectively in cold weather. LED bulbs last around 42 times longer than incandescent bulbs and 13 times longer than halogen bulbs, with the lowest power consumption of all lighting options.

How to Switch Light Globes to Save Energy

As LEDs are the most energy-efficient light globes, if your clients want to be more conscious of their energy usage, then it’s a good idea to switch out their globes for LEDs. New LED bulbs still produce the same amount of brightness (or lumens) as traditional light bulbs like halogens and incandescents, but they use far less electricity (or Watts).
