This year, The Block is heading to sunny Mt Eliza on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, where five teams are taking on brand-new builds with incredible views across Port Phillip Bay. Starting with a blank canvas, each team had the chance to create their home from the ground up, making every design decision their own. Follow along as we explore the lighting choices, ideas and standout looks from The Block 2026.

Week 11 - Backyard

Backyard Week was made for entertaining, and the teams made sure their lighting was ready for it. Black finishes were the favourite across downlights, step lights and garden spots, keeping the fittings understated and letting the landscaping take the attention. It’s an approach we love for outdoor lighting, where the effect of the light is the most important part of the fitting. Our favourites this week are House 3’s MFL Tanimi cylinder wall brackets and Chantel and Wyatt’s Wanaka 2 Light wall lights, both adding a little more presence to the outdoor lighting scheme.

Teams competed for the chance to opportunity to create their own custom pendant with Beacon.

Working alongside Beacon’s in-house pendant designer David Kruse, the House 4 winners Courtney and Sev took our popular Repeat pendant as their starting point and began exploring how they could make it their own. Together, they developed a new combination of brushed nickel and latte marble, adding custom details while retaining the long, clean profile that defines Repeat.

Simplicity was an important part of the design. With plenty already happening in the House 4 kitchen, the pendant needed to complement the space rather than compete with it. The final design stretched an impressive three metres across the kitchen island, creating one continuous line of light.

The collaboration has become a special-edition Repeat pendant you can now bring home, with a 1.5-metre pendant and coordinating latte marble joiner available to create a continuous three-metre configuration.
