Three Birds Renovations - House 13

For their 13th project, Bonnie, Lana and Erin from Three Birds Renovations created the ultimate Australian staycation that was inspired by holiday destinations and design elements from around the world. This incredible resort-style abode in the Australian bush is home to their favourite people: Louisa, the head designer at Three Birds Renovations, her husband and their two beautiful boys Spence and Dasher.

We’re proud to have been a part of this extraordinary project, and we’re excited to help you with lighting ideas to transform your own space into a holiday-at-home dream home.

The Pool House

Pool House – Lounge Room

The bush meets the sea in this delightful lounging area, with views of nature’s best greens paired with the iridescent capiz shells of our handcrafted Dunne pendant.

How To Get The Look The easiest way to add a relaxing vibe to any room is to use elements that reflect your favourite holiday destinations; shells bring the beach look and palm leaf style fans are perfect for transporting you to a tropical paradise.

Pool House – Bathroom

A luxe pool house needs a luxe bathroom! The team combined the playfulness of diamond pattern tiles with the glamour of gold details perfectly. Our Dunne wall brackets with iridescent capiz shells and antique brass fit right in.

How To Get The Look If you’re planning a bathroom refresh, don’t miss this trend that’s inspiring Aussies all over the country: metallic glamour. It’s reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood and the 1960s where metallic finishes added polish and drama to everyday spaces. Choose cool metallic tones such as chrome and nickel for a sleek, modern look or warmer tones such as brass, bronze and gold for a luxe, inviting appeal.

Pool House - Bedroom

Everything about this bedroom says, ‘relaxed sanctuary’, right from its muted colour palette to the subtle touch of green and our Tahitian fan in white.

Mud Room

Imagine coming home to this mudroom! The heroes of this space are our Ascot wall lights designed in partnership with the Three Birds Renovations team. The Ascot blends metal details that embody the industrial-farm house style and soft traditional lines to create a balance between city living and country inspired warmth.

How To Get The Look A mudroom sets the tone for the whole home and is also one of the first spaces your guests will see, so it pays to make an impression right at the start. Use warm finishes like brass and warm white colour temperatures to create a welcoming look.

Main Bedroom

This is what a relaxing parents' retreat looks like! Using a colour palette of just three colours: black, white and brass detailing, the team created a master suite that was sophisticated, mature and one-of-a-kind. Our palm leaf style Tahitian fan over the four poster bed adds that dreamy resort feel, a must for any Australian staycation.

Front And Back Of House

When the styling queens make an entrance, they make it grand! The team used their favourite exterior lights, our Portsea wall brackets, to adorn the entire façade starting from the front gate and continuing all around the house. Reminiscent of a vintage barn, the Portsea matches the black and white colour palette of the façade and adds character and charm to this resort-style home.

How To Get The Look Consistency and coherence are key in designing the perfect space. Match your exterior lights to the colour palette of your home’s façade to help create visual harmony. Add wall lights and garden lights like spike spots and bollards to create an entertainment zone where you and your guests can enjoy the outdoors long after the sun has set. An outdoor-rated fan is a good idea in your alfresco spaces for those scorching summer days; the breeze also keeps pesky bugs away. It’s a win win!

At the rear of the house, the team used the same Portsea wall brackets to create a glamorous cooking zone around the outdoor pizza oven and our palm leaf style Tahitian fan to keep guests comfy when they dine alfresco.

Boys’ Bedroom And Loft

The team created an exclusive space for the two boys of the family where they can relax and just be themselves. We‘re wowed by how our Tide wall brackets have been centred over the massive striped bedheads for a pleasing symmetrical look. Their brass details ooze warmth and laidback luxury while their natural rattan shade casts stunning shadows on the wall when turned on. We also love how our Tahitian fan in white stands out beautifully against the blue feature ceiling.

In addition to the bedroom, they created a private play loft with twin skylights to fill the space with light during the day and our classic Belle lamp to create a warm, cosy atmosphere when the sun goes down. Perfect for movie night!

How To Get The Look When styling a kids’ bedroom, it’s important to focus on the fun in functionality. Use lamps that make it exciting to touch on and off or that have intriguing shapes and patterns. Centre a wall light over the bedhead instead of placing it at the side or create a fun piece of wall art with our Disk lights.

Hallway

This hallway features our Tide wall brackets which cast stunning patterns on the wall. Their shadows add visual interest in this space while their brass and rattan details create a luxe, welcoming look.

How To Get The Look You don’t always need huge pieces of art to adorn the walls in your hallway; you can make a statement using wall lights! Depending on the length and width of your hallway, work out the right number of fixtures you need and how to space them out uniformly. Too many and you’ll overwhelm the space, too few and your hallway will look underlit.

Guest Bedroom

This guest bedroom is all about textures and details! Our Monroe wall sconces were specially selected for the way they cast indirect light through their scallop shell silhouettes and create a warm, luxurious look. We love how the team created an interesting feature by placing two of these sconces on one side of the bed. 10/10 for creative styling from us!

Home Office – Downstairs Study

Imagine working here! Featuring our stunning Aiden pendant in whitewashed wood, this downstairs study is perfection from every angle.

How To Get The Look If you have a timber desk, match it with a timber pendant! The beautiful wood grain details will elevate your space and add a layer of warmth. Place your pendant low enough so that there’s sufficient light on the work surface but high enough so that it doesn’t obstruct your view.

Home Office – Upstairs Study

Can you go wrong with pops of brass? We don't think so! Our Ascot wall brackets shine beautifully in this sunlight-filled upstairs study. But they’re more than just good looks; their adjustable heads allow you to direct light where you need it. Perfect for those late-night work hours!

How To Get The Look All work and no glamour makes a home office a dull space! Choose brass and bronze finishes to make your workspace look chic and boost your productivity. If you are short on desk space, use wall lights instead of lamps. If you do have the space, go with desk lamps that offer additional functionality like the ability to change colour temperatures, adjust brightness levels and charge your smart devices.
