The Block 2026: Main Bedroom Reveals

The main bedrooms are here, and this week the teams really mixed things up with their lighting. We saw statement pendants, wall lights, classic bedside lamps, concealed LEDs and ceiling fans, with each house taking a noticeably different direction. And the judges had plenty to say about it!

House 1 | Adam and Jolene

Adam and Jolene's main bedroom got an immediate "wow" from the judges, with their huge rendered feature wall taking centre stage. The curved recess behind the bed was a particular hit, with the finish referencing the travertine we've already seen throughout their home.

More importantly, the judges felt like they finally understood exactly what Adam and Jolene were trying to do. Darren was "extremely satisfied", Marty loved how the bedroom connected with their previous rooms, and there were even goosebumps when Darren declared, "We finally have a defined style." Not a bad reaction to get in main bedroom week!

The Lighting: Adam and Jolene used lighting to make even more of that incredible arched wall. The Made by Mayfair Rhodes wall sconces in natural travertine cast light down, drawing attention to the curve and adding depth behind the bed without loading the wall with more decoration.

Travertine has become a bit of a signature for this house, so the Rhodes sconces feel very much at home here. The Forge Heritage switches in bronze also pick up the warmer finishes around the room and continue the attention to detail right through to the bedside.

House 2 | Chantel and Wyatt

Light, white and bright was Darren's first impression of Chantel and Wyatt's walk-in robe, and things only got better once the judges reached the bedroom.

While Shaynna wanted to see a little more personality in the robe, she called the bedroom "perfection for the brief". Marty was equally enthusiastic, praising the minimalist approach without feeling like they'd pushed it too far. After a rocky first couple of weeks, Chantel and Wyatt were understandably thrilled to hear they'd "100 per cent nailed this."

The Lighting: The Selene pendant makes quite an entrance above the bed. Its large travertine ring fills the generous space overhead and brings the stone we've seen elsewhere in the house into the lighting as well.

The MFL Gypsum wall sconces take a much quieter role. Their simple white finish almost disappears against the wall, leaving the up-and-down light to highlight the arch behind the bed. With the Selene making the statement overhead, the sconces didn't need to compete for attention.

House 3 | Lisa and Rosco

What a turnaround for Lisa and Rosco! After failing to complete their bathroom last week, they came back with a main bedroom the judges thought was very close to perfection.

The lime plaster covering the walls and ceiling earned a "bloody beautiful" from Darren, while Shaynna loved the curve behind the bed and its subtle nod to the coastline outside.

Then came a Beacon moment we loved! Shaynna loved the Denver table lamps, and Darren revealed he actually has them in his own home. "They're really inexpensive and they look a million bucks," he said. We'll take that!

The Lighting: You just can't beat a great bedside lamp. The Denver table lamps in bronze ribbed sepia glass work particularly well against Lisa and Rosco's darker bedside tables, with the ribbed glass adding texture even when the lights are switched off.

Behind the bed, concealed LED lighting traces the curve Shaynna loved and gives that feature another life at night. The team kept the switches simple with the MFL Axis range in white, letting them disappear against the wall rather than introducing another finish.

House 4 | Courtney and Sev

After two room wins in a row, Courtney and Sev came into main bedroom week with plenty of confidence. A tighter budget meant mOkore DIY this time around, but there was still plenty for the judges to get excited about.

Darren loved the headboard and embedded carpet detail, praising the team for finding ways to set their room apart. Then Shaynna looked at the curve around the bed and saw...a coffin. Marty agreed. Brutal.

Not every design idea is going to win over the judges!

The Lighting: Courtney and Sev returned to suspended bedside lighting, choosing Create II pendants with sepia bottle glass shades. They keep the bedside tables free and bring the light down exactly where it's useful, while the tinted glass works nicely against the deep green bedhead.

There's plenty happening overhead too. Concealed LED lighting follows the recessed ceiling, with the white Kyber DC fan positioned in the centre. Choosing white was a smart move here, allowing the fan to blend into the ceiling rather than adding another competing element above the bed.

House 5 | Rick and Tayla

Rick and Tayla certainly weren't afraid to add features this week. The soaring ceiling height impressed Marty immediately, as did the herringbone flooring and their game-changing electric fireplace.

The bedside, however, divided opinion. Shaynna felt there was simply too much happening, questioning both the bedside tables and lamps before calling out the decision to use double pendants above them. For her, it was a case of "throwing everything at it".

The Lighting: Rick and Tayla doubled down on travertine, using the Made by Mayfair Rhodes pendants in two sizes alongside the Sandrine table lamps, also in natural travertine.

There's no question the Rhodes pendants make use of that incredible ceiling height, and repeating the travertine across the lighting connects nicely with the natural materials elsewhere in the room. But Shaynna's feedback is worth considering too. With pendants and table lamps occupying the same bedside space, she felt there was one layer too many.

(Insider information: their lighting designer actually recommended they remove the lamp from that side of the bed. Good lighting design makes all the difference!)

And that's main bedroom week done! Five houses and five very different approaches to bedroom lighting. We'll be back for the next reveals.
