FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are the plates supplied pre-assembled, or do they need to be built?

As the Forge range is designed for flexibility, toggles and grid plates are sold separately to allow for customisation. Some SKUs are available pre-bundled for convenience, but most trade orders will involve assembly prior to installation.

Are the mechanisms interchangeable between Forge Modern and Forge Heritage?

Yes, the mechanical system is shared across both styles. The differences are purely aesthetic (plate design and finishes), so you can mix components between the two.

Does forge fit standard mounting brackets and wall boxes?

Yes, Forge is designed to fit standard wall boxes and wall brackets.

Do Forge grid plates take standard mechanisms?

Forge grid plates do not use a standard aperture. Only MFL Forge mechanisms should be fitted to ensure proper alignment and compliance. The MFL Forge twin powerpoints with extra switch is the only model compatible with standard Lucci Power mechanisms.

Are the dimmers compatible with non-Lucci Power mechanisms?

The dimmer detail hasn’t been tested for full compatibility with other brands. To guarantee performance and compliance, we recommend using the Lucci Power rotary dimmer, which is confirmed to fit and function correctly.

Are the toggle mechanisms two-way or intermediate compatible?

The standard toggles will operate as a one or two way and an intermediate switch must be purchased separately.

Can the Forge range be used in commercial environments?

Yes, Forge is compliant with AS/NZS 3000 and suitable for both residential and light commercial applications when installed by a licensed electrician.

What’s the difference between the finishes - painted vs electroplated?

Matte black and white finishes are painted. Metallic options (brass, aged nickel, bronze, and antique brass) are electroplated. Both finishes are durable and easy to clean with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives or solvents.

Are the plates solid metal or metal-coated plastic?

All Forge plates are crafted from 201 stainless steel, offering strength and a premium tactile feel.

Do I need to install the screw cap cover?

Yes. To maintain compliance, the screw cap cover must be installed. Additionally, not installing the covers can create a visible shadow line, which negatively affects the overall appearance.

My client’s existing switches are mounted horizontally. Will the new Forge switches fit their existing cut-outs?

Yes, Forge switches are designed to be installed either horizontally or vertically.
