From simple 70’s shack to grand contemporary homestead, Beacon Lighting has been super proud to play our part in this incredible transformation from one of The Block’s most popular couples, Dea & Darren.

Renowned for their work in period homes, this reno gave them the chance to explore a more industrial barn look.

Dining room
Taking a cue from the beach location, a cluster of our coastal-inspired Herman pendants at different heights provided a stunning centrepiece over the dining table.

A smarter guest bedroom
While Dea used all our lights and fans in the house, the guest bedroom was treated to the endless lighting possibilities of our LIFX smart lighting globes in our Clayton pendants. Powered by Google Home Mini, smart lighting makes life easier because you can use voice activation to dim the lights, change the colour (from green to warm white) and get creative using the LIFX app to explore different lighting effects and colours.

Beaming with the wow factor
Our lighting designer had the brilliant idea of installing our Vegas spotlights in the exposed wooden beams, which were a stunning alternative to downlights.

The industrial charm of Buster & Punch switches
Like the jewellery on an outfit, these cutting-edge switches from the UK were installed throughout the whole home, adding the perfect finishing touch to the industrial barn style.

The Design Studio consultation
Choosing the lighting was a breeze, with Dea taking her house plans to our Balwyn store for a Design Studio consultation with lighting designer Jess. In less than half an hour, Jess and Dea had mapped out a lighting plan for the entire house, chosen the lights for each room and decided where they were to be placed.

A richly textured darker palette informed every aspect of this renovation and while Dea nailed the ‘industrial barn’ style, the end result was beautifully warm, cosy and inviting.
