Get ready to be inspired by this week's outdoor room reveals! We’re diving into some spectacular backyard and pool reveals, with Courtney and Grant creating a stunning outdoor oasis that raised the bar for backyard living. Let's see what the judges thought of each space and how you can bring a bit of The Block to your own backyard.

House 1: Maddy and Charlotte

Maddy and Charlotte created three distinct spaces, earning the title of “entertainer’s dream.” Their backyard features an outdoor kitchen, dining and lounge area, a firepit, a kids' basketball court, and a swimming pool – all brought together in a light, coastal-inspired design. The judges loved the plush timber setting, seamless integration with the house’s exterior, and generous green spaces.

Maddy & Charlotte’s choice of Wanaka wall lights brings a clean, architectural look to the patio, casting light up and down the walls to enhance their “entertainer’s dream” vibe. Paired with the LEDLUX field floodlight, they’ve ensured ample illumination across the lawn, perfect for gatherings that extend into the evening.

The Lucci Connect radiant heater adds comfort for cooler nights, and the Whitehaven fan provides a breeze during warm summer days, making this space versatile and welcoming year-round. For additional ambience along garden paths or in cosy seating areas, Wanaka spike spots are used to highlight landscaping features without overwhelming the scene.

Styling Tip: Recreate this inviting look by layering ambient and task lighting throughout your backyard. Aim for adjustable lights in high-traffic areas like decks and seating spots, while adding softer illumination along paths for safety and charm.

House 2: Courtney and Grant

With five separate entertaining zones, Courtney and Grant took their "Moderterranean" theme to the outdoors, blending curves, stone, and lush plantings for a high-end look. Their space includes a fire pit, two lounge zones, a dining area, and a plunge pool surrounded by olive, lemon, and bay leaf trees.

Courtney & Grant’s Mediterranean theme flows effortlessly from indoors to outdoors with carefully chosen lighting that reflects their signature curves and natural textures. Anchoring their design, the Lorne pendant light adds an elegant touch above the main dining area, casting warm, ambient light that’s perfect for evening meals. The Lucci Connect radiant heater is tucked near seating zones to keep guests comfortable even on chillier nights.

Tanimi disk lights add a textured, organic feel around pathways, mirroring the subtle, sun-kissed colours of Mediterranean landscapes. For targeted lighting near plants or garden highlights, the Wanaka spike spotlights are a subtle choice that lets the natural landscape shine.

Styling Tip: To achieve this seamless indoor-outdoor flow, focus on lights with natural textures and materials. Pendant lighting over dining areas creates an instant focal point, while subtle garden lights keep the space feeling airy and open.

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

House 3 brings holiday vibes to the backyard with the biggest pool on the Block, a family cricket/footy pitch, bar area, and lounge. The judges appreciated the blend of practicality and play, with functional, stylish lighting for a festive, fun atmosphere.

The Tanimi wall light provides elegant light distribution on walls and pergolas, enhancing architectural features without detracting from the view.

Styling Tip: Use a mix of adjustable lights to create layered illumination and emphasise certain areas like garden beds or outdoor seating. Add a touch of colour with RGB spotlights to bring a festive atmosphere to evening gatherings.

House 4: Kylie and Brad

Despite setbacks, Kylie and Brad created a low-maintenance, stylish backyard centred around a large pool. The judges noted the pool’s dark interior, which added depth and contrast to the space, while modern lighting enhanced the yard’s simplicity and charm.

The Sentinel spike spotlights highlight pathways and landscaping, and the Desi step lights ensure visibility on stairs and other level changes, while fitting seamlessly into the outdoors.

Styling Tip: For a low-maintenance look, choose fixtures that blend with the landscape while providing targeted illumination. Spike spotlights are ideal for highlighting landscaping without overpowering minimalist settings.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Kristian & Mimi’s expansive backyard feels like a luxury resort, thanks to the natural textures and standout lighting pieces like the Tanimi Cube wall lights. This fixture, with its warm, natural glow, complements the wood and stone features throughout the space. The Marine spike spots are ideal for highlighting lush landscaping, creating a serene atmosphere that feels like a retreat.

Styling Tip: For a true resort feel, combine textural light fixtures with natural materials, like stone and wood. Focus on lighting areas where people gather, such as around pools or dining tables, to create both ambient and task lighting that enhances the whole setting.

This week on The Block was all about balancing work and play, with the contestants proving that backyards can be multifunctional without compromising on style. Whether you're looking to create a serene garden escape, a family-friendly play zone, or a full-on entertainer’s paradise, thoughtful lighting and zoning can help make your outdoor space both functional and beautiful.
