House 1: Maddy and Charlotte

Maddy and Charlotte, with guidance from Block All-Stars Ronnie and Georgia, brought a vibrant outdoor barbeque area to life. The dynamic duo didn’t miss a beat, creating a space that was as family friendly as it was stylish. From the in-ground trampoline and sand pit, perfect for kids, to the nautical-themed BBQ area, they thought of everything. Shaynna Blaze’s excitement was palpable as she exclaimed about the "spectacular" planning and thoughtful layout. Marty echoed her sentiments, noting the excellent placement of fans and heaters to ensure year-round usability.

Maddy and Charlotte’s clever use of lighting further enhanced the ambience, drawing on the natural surroundings while offering ample warmth and illumination.

To recreate the atmosphere of Maddy and Charlotte’s versatile outdoor space, start with the Caspian wall light in textured white. Its sleek design adds a modern touch to outdoor areas, blending seamlessly with both contemporary and coastal themes. This fixture provides focused yet ambient lighting, perfect for gathering spots or illuminating walkways. Pair it with the Whitehaven fan for a refreshing breeze during hot summer days. The fan’s large 56-inch blades circulate air effectively, helping maintain a cool, inviting atmosphere in any outdoor space.

When temperatures drop, the Lucci Connect 3000W radiant heater ensures that guests stay comfortable, making outdoor entertaining possible throughout the seasons. Finally, the City III Gimble downlights provide adjustable lighting, ideal for highlighting dining areas or enhancing focal points within your space. With its adaptable three-colour temperature options, this downlight allows you to easily transition between warm, neutral, and cool lighting to suit any mood or occasion.

Styling Tip: For a well-rounded outdoor experience, combine layered lighting with fans and heaters. The right lighting balance, paired with comfortable climate control, can make your outdoor area a go-to space all year.

House 2: Courtney and Grant

Courtney and Grant joined forces with Steph and Gian to create a day spa and sauna that brought together Moditerranean and Japandi influences for a truly luxurious experience. Designed with earthy tones and natural textures, the spa features a heated slab, ice baths, and a sauna, creating a retreat-like ambience that embraces tranquility and relaxation. The judges were wowed by the intricate details and seamless blend of styles, making it clear that Courtney, Grant, and team created something truly special.

To bring a piece of their relaxing spa retreat to your home, start with the Equinox wall sconce in travertine. The natural stone finish adds warmth and texture, complementing neutral palettes and natural materials. This sconce emits a soft, calming glow that enhances the tranquil atmosphere, while its IP44 rating makes it suitable for humid environments like bathrooms and spa spaces.

Paired with MFL strip lighting, this combination allows you to highlight textures and architectural features subtly, adding layers of ambience to the space. Strip lighting along shelves, mirrors, or baseboards creates an immersive glow that enhances the overall sense of calm. The Sierra dome pendant in textured white adds an elegant focal point, with its rounded form and textured finish echoing the natural curves and minimalism of Japandi design.

For an additional layer of luxury, the Osten LED colour-switching wall bracket with alabaster provides soft illumination that can shift between warm and cool tones, allowing you to tailor the lighting to your desired ambience. The alabaster design lends an upscale touch, perfect for creating a high-end spa aesthetic.

Styling Tip: Use a combination of wall sconces, strip lighting, and statement pendants to bring dimension and warmth to spa spaces. By layering different light sources, you can create a serene retreat right in your home.

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

Ricky and Haydn infused their trademark style and pizzazz into the Al Fresco section of the Clubhouse. Their spacious outdoor area featured a stunning array of 24 Velux skylights, fairy lights, and sophisticated roll-down blinds that allow for year-round usability. Judges praised the space, noting its blend of elegance and functionality. Marty Fox especially admired the setup, highlighting its versatility for both summer and winter use.

Achieve a similar vibe with the Harbour adjustable wall spot in copper. This lighting choice is perfect for outdoor settings, providing a rich, warm glow that complements natural and metallic elements. The copper finish gives it a classic yet refined feel, while the adjustable feature allows you to focus light where it’s most needed, whether it’s to illuminate seating areas, accentuate architectural details, or add ambience.

Styling Tip: Position adjustable wall spots to highlight key features in your outdoor space. A warm, directed light can create a sense of intimacy, especially in larger open-air areas.

House 4: Kylie and Brad

Kylie and Brad’s playful yet sophisticated pool room and games area brought together a rich autumnal palette and statement lighting. The team didn’t actually finish their space after their walk out last week, so this space was completed by Block all-stars Jimmy and Tam. The space was transformed into a vibrant, family-friendly area with elements that brought warmth and sophistication. Judges appreciated the balance of design and practicality, with Marty noting that it married fun with elegance.

Available in multiple sizes, the Tamarind shades create a cosy, inviting atmosphere, ideal for game rooms or relaxed living areas. For added elegance, the Kings LED wall bracket in brass offers functional, beautiful lighting that’s perfect for illuminating artwork or architectural elements.

Styling Tip: Use natural-fiber shades and brass accents to create a balance of warmth and sophistication. This combination is perfect for spaces where you want to encourage relaxation and connection.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Kristian and Mimi’s cinema room and communal kitchen combined style, function, and a touch of Hollywood glamour. The use of walnut finishes, curved niches, and ambient lighting in the cinema room created an immersive experience that left the judges speechless. In the communal kitchen, sleek finishes and statement lighting brought a modern, high-end look that was both functional and striking.

The Denver table lamp in bronze and sepia glass introduces a vintage element, adding warmth and a touch of 1940s cinema style. In the kitchen area, the Atlas wall bracket in bronze provides an elegant, functional light source, making it perfect for accenting countertops or dining spaces.

For a modern twist, the Abacus LED pendant in bronze offers an upscale, industrial look, combining dimmable functionality with a sleek, minimalist design. This pendant works well in both kitchens and dining areas, enhancing the ambience and adding sophistication.

Styling Tip: Mix vintage-style lamps with modern strip lighting to create a rich, layered lighting effect. This combination adds depth and character, transforming your cinema or kitchen space into a warm, inviting retreat.
