This week's The Block main bedroom reveals brought all the drama, creativity, and breathtaking design choices we've come to expect, and it ended in a tie between Kristian & Mimi and Courtney & Grant. The judges - Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer, and Marty Fox – loved the natural elements, pops of colour, and innovative lighting solutions. Check them out!

House 1: Jesse and Paige

After a bittersweet farewell to Jesse and Paige, Sydney sisters Charlotte and Maddy stepped in to take over House 1’s renovation. Continuing with the modern colonial theme, the original plans included rust-coloured chairs and striped wallpaper. But Maddy and Charlotte had a different vision, and they weren't afraid to mix things up.

Taking a risk, the duo leaned into a coastal, neutral palette of white, green, and beige. With earthy tones and wooden textures, they created a minimalist haven. Marty praised the choice, calling it “extremely marketable” with incredible material selections.

Maddy & Charlotte’s neutral retreat achieved a calming, relaxed vibe with to the MFL By Masson Gypsum ribbed wall brackets in white. These textured wall brackets added subtle elegance, creating a soft, diffused glow across the room without overpowering the design. Paired with Custom downlights, the lighting setup offered functionality and style.

Styling tip: Use ribbed wall brackets to introduce subtle texture to your space. They’re ideal for adding depth to a neutral-toned room without overwhelming the design.

House 2: Courtney and Grant

Chaos reigned for Courtney and Grant this week, but despite the rush, their bedroom reveal wowed the judges. Darren Palmer was visibly moved, describing the room as “visceral” and packed with emotion.

Shaynna praised their unique Moditerranean vision, describing the room as something entirely new and distinctly Italian. The use of natural stone and consistent lighting carried through from their guest bedroom, bringing a sense of continuity that wowed the judges.

Courtney & Grant’s Mediterranean-inspired bedroom was elevated by the Cassini table lamps, which added an earthy, modern touch with their brown marble finish. These were complemented by the Equinox wall sconce in brown marble, providing a soft, warm glow that tied the room’s natural materials together. In the walk-in robe, the teams continued their glamourous lighting, using the same MFL By Masson Luella wall lights at the dressing table, bringing them through from their guest bedroom for a cohesive lighting design.

Styling tip: Mix marble or stone lighting with natural materials like wood or linen to create a high-end, grounded look that feels both luxurious and inviting.

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

Ricky and Haydn delivered a stunning main bedroom with plenty of praise from the judges - until the unfinished parts became apparent. While the room featured a striking LED-lit ceiling centrepiece, it was clear the space wasn’t quite complete.

Darren was still impressed with the lighting choices, saying the design elements, including the bed and lamps, were “gorgeous.” The continuation of curves from their previous bedroom kept the space cohesive, with a beautiful flow throughout.

The boys’ minimalist design was amplified by the clever use of MFL strip lighting, adding a continuous, soft glow that enhanced the room’s features. Paired with the MFL By Masson Gypsum ribbed surface mount downlight, this lighting duo brought sleekness and functionality to the space, keeping the design clean and sophisticated.

Styling tip: Incorporate strip lighting along skirting boards or ceilings to create a modern, ambient glow that adds both function and atmosphere to any room.

House 4: Kylie and Brad

Kylie & Brad went all in with a moody, bold main bedroom that included a statement lounge area, and the judges were thrilled. The real showstopper was the handmade papier-mâché lamp from this week’s challenge - it’s so impressive, we’re happy to take a backseat on the lighting front. However, we’re pretty please with how our MFL By Masson Accent gimble downlights created a dramatic effect on the Shou Sugi Ban feature wall, adding a sleek, modern edge that perfectly pulls together the bold design choices that Shaynna couldn’t get enough of.

The MFL Accent Gimble LED downlight in black highlighted the room’s feature wall, creating a striking contrast that added depth to the moody design. Combined with the Reflexion round mirror in the walk-in robe, these choices enhanced the room’s sophistication while keeping the look modern and fresh.

Styling tip: Use black downlights to add depth and contrast in rooms with bold, dark tones.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Kristian & Mimi have quickly emerged as frontrunners this season, delivering another breathtaking room that wowed the judges. Shaynna’s reaction to their raked ceiling was pure shock and admiration: “It takes my breath away.” The custom strip lighting added a soft, warm glow that perfectly complemented the luxurious coastal retreat vibe.

The custom MFL strip lighting added a magical, soft glow that highlighted the architectural features of the room, while the City III gimble downlights provided bright, focused light for task areas.
