When I first started in a casual sales position, I never imagined that I'd be exposed to such incredible opportunities within some really exciting areas of the business. From store management to visual merchandising and now buying, Beacon has always encouraged and supported my passions. Now, I travel the world designing and sourcing hundreds of new products every year.

Working at Beacon has taught me that it’s never too late to build a successful career. I was 47 years old when I started off at a Beacon store and today, I manage the maintenance of 110 stores and three distribution centres. Throughout my journey, my managers encouraged me to keep learning and keep trying to move ahead even though that meant a loss to their departments, which for them wasn’t as important as my personal growth. I wouldn’t be where I am today without this invaluable support.
Mandi | Lighting Designer
I never thought that taking a leap and becoming a lighting designer would allow me to work on The Block where I used my technical knowledge to help create lighting plans that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I love the variety in my work, which lets me collaborate with architects, big building companies and regular home owners alike to bring their lighting wish list to life.

I love my job and I’m grateful for the opportunities that have got me to where I am today, but the people that I work with are the cherry on top. Six years ago, I joined Beacon as a casual sales associate with the intention of working temporarily while I studied – those plans clearly went out the window! I have since moved into the HR team and I’m consistently and continually amazed by the incredible people that I meet, both in store and at our store support centre. People really are at the core of our business and they’re the reason that I’m motivated to do my best.
