Backyard week on The Block brought a mix of spectacular wins and a few areas that needed improvement. The contestants chose a minimalistic approach to outdoor lighting, intending to showcase the fantastic work they had put into their backyard and pool areas.

Kyle & Leslie - House 01

It was hard to miss the breathtaking elevated plunge pool stealing the spotlight. With an oversized showerhead water feature and giant stepping stones leading up to it, this space instantly takes visitors to a family-friendly resort-like retreat.

However, amidst all the splendour, a subtle disconnection between the indoor and outdoor living areas lingered. To attract their desired buyers, the couple may want to elevate their styling game and aim for a more high-end feel throughout the space.

If you're inspired by Kyle and Leslie's outdoor oasis and want to recreate the magic in your own backyard, here are some of the lighting products they used.

They selected the MBM Seaside spike spot in aged bronze, which offers a rustic and minimalist outdoor lighting option. The Made By Mayfair Seaside collection of spike spots and bollards in aged bronze not only complements the overall aesthetic but also promises durability.

Crafted from solid bronze, these lighting fixtures boast superior anti-corrosion properties, making them ideal for enduring the harsh climatic conditions of coastal living. Whether you have a modern or architecturally designed home, these fittings are perfect for various settings, from hallways and bathrooms to living and dining rooms, or even feature lighting in a covered alfresco area.

For wall features, they selected the LEDlux Orsay exterior wall brackets in white. These modern and elegantly simple wall bracket is more than meets the eye, delivering a surprising level of power in a subtle design. With its impeccable finish, superior quality, and expert craftsmanship, this fixture is poised to stand the test of time and become a timeless classic.

Leah & Ash - House 02

Leah and Ash wowed us with their stunning backyard reveal, seamlessly connecting their interior and outdoor spaces. Their design not only caters to adults but also creates a welcoming environment for children of all ages.

The green-tiled pool was a delight, and one could easily spend days lounging on the inviting daybed.

Leah shared her vision, saying, "With this design, we wanted it to really reflect what we've got going on inside and also the exterior of our house. Having that seamless indoor-outdoor living, I mean, that's the Aussie dream." And it's a dream that came true. Marty was taken aback by the pool's beauty, while Shaynna found a connection she hadn't experienced in House 1. The outdoor entertaining area's width impressed Marty, and Dave described the space as "Zen," praising the design choices.

Kristy & Brett - House 03

The first impressions from the judges were solid. "Yum," Darren said as he looked at the cladding. While Shaynna, Marty, and Darren had been doing all the talking, they noticed guest judge Dave Franklin had been awfully quiet.

When he did speak, he didn't hold back. "I don't know what to say. I'm actually a little bit bored here," Dave began. Dave reiterated that the pool was "the best part" but said there wasn't much else. "We couldn't agree more with Dave, and he does high-end stuff. He's a professional, and we agree with his feedback," Brett admitted. "He's not wrong," Brett added.

Shaynna was impressed that House 3 was the first to showcase the original brickwork of the home. Darren thought that teaming the original orange bricks with the creamy travertine pavements was a stroke of genius.

Steph & Gian - House 04

Steph and Gian managed to transform their outdoor space into an oasis that not only added to the overall charm of their home but also provided a wide range of functional areas for their buyers to enjoy.

The highlight of their backyard reveal was undoubtedly the alfresco dining area, which was nothing short of breathtaking. This space has significantly boosted the amenity of their living spaces, providing an elegant and classy atmosphere. As Shaynna rightly put it, "I feel like I'm on a rooftop in Beverly Hills."

But the alfresco dining area was just the beginning. The couple's garden boasted several other functional zones, including a pool, a fire pit, a sauna, and even a pizza kitchen, complete with its very own veggie garden. It's evident that Steph and Gian spared no expense in making their garden feel like an established paradise, rather than a new addition. Marty Fox was so impressed that he believed they might be on the way to breaking the price record for a house in Hampton East.

Eliza & Liberty - House 05

Eliza and Liberty took on the challenge of revamping a 160 square-meter backyard. Despite the limited space, they were determined to create something truly enchanting. Their backyard reveal featured a stunning pergola, festoon lighting, elegant cladding, a pristine pool area, and charming timber door frames. These elements promised to create warm and inviting vibes for any family gathering. However, there was one aspect that didn't quite hit the mark – the heavy, industrial-looking grey concrete that dominated a significant portion of the space, leaving it feeling cold and harsh.

Additionally, for an extra touch of sophistication and illumination in your outdoor space, consider the MFL By Masson Tanimi cylinder up/down wall light. This sleek and stylish wall sconce radiates light both upwards and downwards, designed with architectural aesthetics in mind.
